HuMindWise is now PATO!
Some exciting news! We’ve got a new name!
PATO stands for Play at the Office.
PATO also means duck in Spanish, my first language.
And a duck bill can look a lot like < angle brackets / > used in most programming languages.
⊙<Ducks!/>⊙
I wanted something that mixed playfulness, professionalism, and folks working in tech. There were A LOT of ducks that didn’t make it into the final.

The evolution of the PATO logo, starting with 4 silly looking ducks. Each one becoming more angular until they looked like angle brackets. Below them, several variations of the logo now using the angle brackets and a more traditional rubber duck style
That’s how my brain made it to the following logo:

The final main logo, a yellow rubber duck with a left facing angle bracket as its bill and the words PATO play at the office between it’s bill and another right facing angle bracket. In the image, there are 2 other variations on the logo and a color palette featuring yellow, orange, cyan, and dark blue gray
While HuMindWise was a great name for what I started out doing – community engagement and facilitation – PATO is a stronger north star focused on playfulness.
My mission? To help tech and product teams reclaim play as a fundamental human system and use it to build safer, more connected, more human centered workplaces.
My vision? A world where play is as normal at work as a standup and people feel seen and heard, happier, and joyful as a result of putting play back into action.
I’m getting serious about play! And I appreciate all of you joining me on this journey.
