Single player, better together
I’m back on my “single player games can be played in groups” kick.
This past week, we celebrated my partner’s bday by playing through Uncharted 1 and Uncharted 2. We took turns by chapter, or whenever one of us died. And we died A LOT. We tried some things that shouldn’t have worked, jumped where we probably shouldn’t have, and failed our way through quite a few gun fights.
It was one of the best weeks, ever!

The game covers for Uncharted 1 and Uncharted 2, featuring the main character, Nathan Drake
What I love about playing Uncharted with others is that it’s built on experimentation and trying things out. There’s no single right way through a chapter. You try, you fail, and then you hand the controller over and watch someone else try something different and learn a little bit about them. You’re both in it and learning. The failing becomes half the fun.
Hence this email about fun! Building PATO has been one of the most difficult, exciting things I’ve done, and I love using my knowledge of games to help folks build teams they love.
So what’s your perspective on failure?? When’s the last time you had some fun with failing?
I really wanna know!
Lissy
