A game from the brain behind Wonderland?

You may know him best for Alice’s adventures in Wonderland, but Lewis Carroll was also a game designer! He created word ladder puzzles, which challenge players to transform one word into another by changing just one letter at a time. A fun way to play with words.

And you know me, I’m all about taking time to play. To that end, let me introduce you to…

Junctures! A digital twist on word ladders.

The goal of the game is to morph the first word into the final word by either shuffling, swapping, adding, or removing a letter. You only get 4 steps though and there’s only one correct path.

Carroll originally designed word ladders as a 2-player game, but it also works in teams of 2-6.

It’s a great game to play solo or with a team because…

…It requires logical deduction and trying different strategies

…Encourages collaborative thinking so teams discuss ideas and build on each other’s ideas

…it’s chill! A perfect 5-10 minute session before meetings to get the gears going

If you find it hard, that’s good!

You’re stretching your strategic thinking muscles, experiences persisting in the face of challenge, and general problem solving skills.

Try it on your own first, then bring it to your next standup or meeting.

Happy gaming,

Lissy

P.S. Hit reply and tell me how it went! It took me longer to beat one than I’d like to admit…😅
