A 5 minute check in that helps your team share how they’re feeling
What it is
The Art Scale Check In is a free Miro template that uses memey artwork to help teams share how they’re feeling and showing up. Perfect for use before a meeting, a sprint, a retro, or any session where you want to get an idea of how folks in the room are doing.
Instead of asking “how is everyone?” and getting twelve versions of good and fine, you put some (slightly funny) art in front of people and ask them to drop a dot on the one that matches their energy today.
Why it works
Pointing to an image is a lot easier than being put on the spot. The artwork does the heavy lifting and can help start a conversation, in addition to making it easier for everyone to share a little bit about what’s going on.

What happens right after a check in?
Like any energy check, you can use it to adjust your session in real time using feedback. This can depend on what artwork’s been picked the most or how involved your team is in the check in. Enthusiasm and laughter are signals for good energy. More subdued reactions may mean lower energy in the room.
