Things I’d Slack ya at 2pm

Hey y’all!

I want to share some things I’ve been thinking about, either related to games, work, or play in the workplace.

Here goes!

  1. Gallup released their 2026 State of the Global Workplace report in April. Employee engagement is still incredibly low, and trending downward. Only 20% of employees are engaged.
  2. I designed a pre-mortem game as part of a workshop proposal. The main mechanic is helping your teammates by pooling your dice together and roleplaying what happens when a bad situation comes up. Still tweaking it, trying to keep it simple…
  3. I came across this insta of a cardboard vending machine using string and surprise and I can’t stop thinking about it! I really want to incorporate it into a workshop or something…
  4. Also on insta, Isaac Sanders, a phD student, talks about their study using tabletop role playing games for people learning social work and its effect on teaching moral distress when having to choose between 2 difficult decisions. That could just be a regular day at work for some of us…😅
  5. Over on LinkedIn, Eric Sillies shared a post about how the permission to play creates opportunities for growth through psychological safety. I am aware Eric has an incredible last name hahhaah
  6. I just finished playing through Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and I am shooketh. Masterpiece! Unsurprisingly, finishing this massive game after nearly 100 hours over a year has got me feeling some sort of way. Are you familiar with the empty sadness that comes after finishing a really good book? Games can have the same effect, especially role playing games like this one.
  7. Lastly, if you’re in the area, feel free to join me for PATO’s official ribbon cutting ceremony on June 25th! I will have the cutest PATO ducks to hand out! Also some light snacks

Feel free to send an email if you wanna talk about any of these!

Good luck, have fun,

Lissy
